An old favourite.

Well
People I know have come back to me after my last post saying, "what the hell do you mean?" Like I said in this post, some of my favourite people died young. Morrison said that he wanted to be a shooting star, glowing bright against the sky one minute, gone the next. Extended life spans and immortality are highly overrated, IMHO. I mean, no one wants to be Wowbagger. Go figure! And if you are a fan of the Hitchhiker's Guide, try this.
Date with Roger Waters on Sunday. Can't wait. Here's a song in the meanwhile...

Ashley Treatment in Grey's Anatomy
Last week, I posted about the controversial Ashley Treatment. In their blog, Ashley parent's have argued that the procedure also insures her against cancer, pneumonia etc. I just recalled an episode of Grey's Anatomy (yes, the doctors and interns on the show actually have time to look at patients too!) in which a woman wants a mastectomy and hysterectomy because she is afraid that she will get cancer. Agreed, this was a TV series, but what if it happens in real life? Does this mean that any body part that one can live without should be removed in order to prevent disease? Would I do the same if I was told that I had a high possibility of cancer? Would you?
A wet morning
Earth stained red with a poor man's blood
A smile on a face so long missed
Hands touch...
Smells rise up from unannounced rains
An explosion of feeling sears across dendrites
The city warm after a long awaited bath
A shy sun hidden in the grey sky
Droplets whip past the window
And people drip in on a Monday morning.
In other news, another one bites the dust. And the pain is excruciating!
And did I mention that I finally met Azim Premji, and actually spoke to him?

News that chilled me to the bone!
Doctors at the Seattle hospital operated on a disabled girl to keep her from reaching sexual maturity, the treatment included removing a 6-year-old girl's breast buds, giving her a hysterectomy, and administering high doses of estrogen to keep her short. OH MY GOD!
Apparently, the girl's parents requested the treatment to keep their daughter small and desexualized so they could continue to care for her at home and provide her with the "best possible quality of life."
Read the full article at Salon. The parents have a blog! How the hell could they do this to their own child! How can such things be allowed? How can you mutilate a child with disabilities just because you feel it will be easier for you to take care? Christ, I am just so appalled!!

Ozzfest is free. Gotta applaud to the old geezer for doing something like this. Wish I were there!

Ouch
Monday mornings are never easy, especially if your neck and shoulders are killing you and your doctor has advised bed rest. Getting out of office early to get some R&R. Having tomorrow off should help. Signing off with this:
Weary with toil, I haste me to my bed,
The dear repose for limbs with travel tired;
But then begins a journey in my head,
To work my mind, when body's work's expired:
For then my thoughts, from far where I abide,
Intend a zealous pilgrimage to thee,
And keep my drooping eyelids open wide,
Looking on darkness which the blind do see
Save that my soul's imaginary sight
Presents thy shadow to my sightless view,
Which, like a jewel hung in ghastly night,
Makes black night beauteous and her old face new.
Lo! thus, by day my limbs, by night my mind,
For thee and for myself no quiet find.
Weary with toil, I haste me to my bed,

But then begins a journey in my head,
