Eat Me, Drink Me

Picked up Marilyn Manson's "Eat Me, Drink Me" last week. Critical acclaim aside, I think this is Manson's most moody and mellow work to date. Written mostly after a manic depressive spell and through a troubled relationship, the lyrics are largely ignorable. The music is something else- listening to it on headphones transports me to a happy place where good music is still alive. Manson claims to have sung most of the album lying down on the studio floor, which makes him sound like he's tripping a little more than usual. Love it, except for the sellout club mix of Heart Shaped Glasses. Manson, if you do anymore of this, I solemnly swear to hate you. Great album otherwise. My current favourite is Putting Holes in Happiness.

Why I'm happy in India...

After schools, its universities that are unsafe in the US. 32 people killed, including Loganathan, a professor originally from Erode. When Mr. Bush talks about purging evil, does he ever think of banning guns in the country? And its not just Dubya, no politician would want to do anything for fear of losing a big vote bank (not to mention money bank) if he brings in gun control. Is this what the American Dream has been reduced to - constant fear from within and without? What a shame! At least we can send our children to school secure in the knowledge that there are no guns in lunch boxes(!) here!

Rest, music and cute guys who are gay

Got some much needed rest over the last 2 days before I ruined it with bad sleep and a fall off the train. Bought some good music (Third Eye Blind, Marilyn Manson), books. Saw Open Season, not bad. Shared browsing space with Rehan Engineer (actor and playwright) in the graphic novel section at Landmark. Guys who are cute, smart and read graphic novels should not be allowed to be gay! Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against gay people, just that its such a waste when such a guy is gay and wont even look at a woman.
